The Basic Electrical Engineering lab is well equipped and it helps to impart knowledge in the following areas.

  • Source of electrical energy, meaning of electrical quantities and the behavior of circuit elements used in all the electrical networks. Design and analysis of AC magnetic networks.
  • Principle of operation of electrical machines and different measuring instruments to measure the different electrical parameters in industrial application.
  • Concept of power systems, Transmission/Distribution and utilization of Electrical energy in industrial application.

NETWORK & DEVICE LAB

The Network & device lab is well equipped and it helps to impart knowledge in the following areas

  • Different circuit laws and theorems and its application this to solve complicated circuits.
  • Design of Electrical circuits by analyzing circuit parameters and circuit characteristics.
  • Design of Various filter circuits in communication engineering by analyzing characteristics of low pass, high pass, band pass and band elimination filters.
  • Fundamental knowledge of resonance in RLC series and parallel circuits and spectral analysis of nonsinusoidal waves to design resonant circuit and to analyze the signals in frequency domain.

The Electrical & Electronic Measurement lab is well equipped and it helps to impart knowledge in the following areas.

  • Studty of Different electrical parameters by applying the Basic concepts of electrical measurements and error which include measurement of resistance, inductance and capacitance, etc
  • Basic concepts on Galvanometer, Ammeter and Potentiometer in measurement of power,
  • energy, frequency and power factor of electrical appliances for their smooth functioning in industries and power sectors.
  • Operation of current transformer and potential transformer and its implementation in transmission and distribution.
  • Different oscilloscopes and analyzers to record the behavior of electrical machines at every instant for its efficient and stable operation in industries.

  • Knowledge of DC motor, AC servo motor to determine its transfer function using control mechanism
  • Knowledge of the frequency response and time response of 2 order process to design a controller and Implement the PID controller to the servo motor.
  • Measurement of resistance, inductance and capacitance using bridges in order to analyze displacementvoltage characteristics and resistancevoltage characteristics of devices like LVDT, thermister and implement these components in different control circuits in industrial applications.

  • To learn and simulate time response of a given feedback control system to unit step/ ramp input, frequency response (Bode plot & Polar Plot) of a given feedback control system and design & Simulation of P / PI / PID Controller which will enable students to work in R & D sector and help them in execution of software projects.

MPOWER ELECTRONICS / ELECTRICAL DRIVES LAB

The Power electronics lab is well equipped and it helps to impart knowledge in the following areas.

  • General safety to be followed in handling different power electronics devices, measuring devices, and interpretation of data from measuring devices and correlation with the theories and parameters of power electronics devices.
  • V-I characteristics of SCR, TRIAC and MOSFET, Study of the VI characteristics of UJT, single phase half wave controlled rectifier and semi converter circuit with R and RL Load and full wave controlled rectifier circuits with R and RL Load.
  • Three phase full wave controlled rectifier circuits with R and RL Load, Study of the forward converter and fly back converter operation, the single phase PWM voltage source inverter, Study the performance of three phases VSI with PWM control, Study the performance of single phase AC Voltage controller with R and RL Load, Study of the resonant inverter.
  • The Electrical Drives lab is well equipped and it helps to impart knowledge in the following areas.

POWER SYSTEM LAB

The Power System Lab. is well equipped and helps to impart knowledge in the following areas.

  • To analyze negative and zero sequence synchronous reactance of an alternator, subtransient direct axis and subtransient quadrature axis synchronous reactance of a 3ph salient pole alternator, fault current for LG, LL,B LLG and LLL faults at the terminals of an alternator at very low excitation for better understanding of synchronous machines.
  • To analyze IDMT overcurrent relay and with different plug setting and time setting multipliers and plot its time–current characteristics, the operating characteristics of biased different relay with different % of biasing, the MHO and reactance type distance relays, A, B, C, D parameters of an artificial transmission line, series inductance and shunt capacitance per phase per km of a three phase line with flat horizontal spacing for single stranded and bundle conductor configuration that will help them to work in protection system of power system.
  • To implement knowledge of Ferranti Effect and voltage distribution in HV long transmission line using transmission line model, Insulation test for Transformer oil, Study of various types of Lightning arrestors for better understanding of power sectors and R&D sector.
